A family barbecue or one with friends is planned, and you're not necessarily sure which wine to serve for the occasion or with which dish. Domaine du Goût invites you to discover the best wine choices to accompany all your grilled dishes.
The classics: merguez and sausages
True stars of our summer barbecues, sausages and merguez are the most widely eaten and popular grilled foods on our plates. For these, choose the wine according to their flavor. For merguez, choose Beaujolais wines and certain other Rhône reds with spicy notes and intense fruit flavors that will enhance them. Rosé and merguez also make an excellent pairing. What better way to feel like you're on vacation than bringing these two together? We recommend a light rosé as an aperitif, followed by a full-bodied rosé with the meal, such as clairet, a wine from the Bordeaux region. It will pair perfectly with chipolatas. To accompany sausages as well, Pays d'Oc wines work very well. Slightly spicy, they will pair perfectly with the grilled aromas of chipolatas.
Red meats
With full-flavored meats such as beef, turn to red wines with rich red and black fruit aromas. Preferably full-bodied and tannic wines, simple yet powerful enough to accompany the flavor of beef. For this, we recommend wines from Languedoc or the Rhône Valley to enhance your meats. Bordeaux wines are also highly recommended.
White meats
To accompany white meats such as pork or chicken, choose young, light wines. A well-chilled rosé from the Mediterranean or the Loire will pair perfectly with marinated white meats. A light and, above all, fruity red such as a Beaujolais, a Gamay, or a red Sancerre will also be an excellent choice for your white meats.
Fish and shellfish
For fish, choose a lively wine that will soften the overly pronounced flavor of grilled fish. A dry, fresh white wine will be ideal. Alsace wines in particular, such as Pinot Blanc and Riesling, which have very fruity and floral aromas, will enhance these grilled dishes. For shellfish such as shrimp and prawns, rosés are highly recommended. A lovely Côtes de Provence will accompany your prawns elegantly.
